Yes, but we only recommend it in the case where it is not possible to allow us access to your server. Otherwise you should take us up on our offer of free installation. We include it to make your job easier… and believe it or not it makes our job easier too. Guaranteeing that the install was performed in the standard way from the beginning is very important to us. The only way we can 100% guarantee that, is when we do the install.

The installation process is not too difficult, but it is not a simple case of uploading a couple of files to your server and running them in the browser. You need to understand how cgi scripts are run on your system, you need to be comfortable with SSH/telnet and its commands, and you need to make sure your MySQL and perl modules are the right versions and are properly accessible from the command line. When you are performing a self-install we will assume that you understand that instructions are a guide only, and that things may vary slightly depending on your server configuration.

In short - if you cannot allow us access and you are comfortable with your system, then a self-install may be the only solution for you. Otherwise, you should let us handle it for you. No extra charge.

Please note that if any problems come up during or due to your self-install you may need to pay us an hourly fee to investigate if you are not able to troubleshoot it on your own. Furthermore, if you order by credit card and wish to do a self-install we reserve the right to verify the order before releasing the scripts.
